Couples Counseling For Michiganders

Fine-tuning: for couples who want to move the needle from good to even better.

If your relationship has been more challenging than expected, a proactive approach to your love story might be the smart move. Couples therapy is a great option to strengthen and fine-tune your relationship, using science-backed methods like the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

In our sessions, we’ll explore your relationship, understand how you engage with each other, and learn ways to build safety and deepen emotional connection. Not only can this improve your relationship, but it can also boost your health and well-being. Plus, if you’re a parent, a strong relationship benefits your kids too—it's a win-win!

Gottman and Emotionally Focused Trained Therapist

I have advanced training in both The Gottman Method for Couples and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which are considered by many marriage therapists to be the gold standard for marriage counseling.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Marriage Counseling

Standing alongside the Gottman Method for Couples is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Based on science, EFT takes into consideration the highly regarded theory of attachment and leads partners on a journey of learning about the importance of being securely attached and how to create a secure attachment with the one they love most. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) absolutely has a rightful place in couples therapy. Its tool-based approach can be useful when partners would benefit from learning skills to better regulate emotion, especially when interacting with their partner. In marriage therapy, CBT stands nicely on the shoulders of the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy which do the brunt of the work.

Zoom Marriage Counseling

Although marriage counseling has traditionally taken place on pleather couches, recent studies suggest that therapy done via Zoom in most cases is just as effective. Before we begin, our Zoom-based marriage counseling we’ll walk through the practical aspects of telehealth (e.g. privacy concerns and a solid internet connection) to ensure we’re set up for success.

Online marriage counseling is not a forever commitment. If at any time you are not benefitting from teletherapy, we will work together to find a solution.
